On a cold weekend in December, in Cork, Ireland Representatives from AETO traveled as part of a Spanish delegation for a very well attended Championship organised by ITF Ireland. This was an important event in the ITF calendar with the approaching European Championships in Cardiff in 2024.
Amongst the competitors was Alex Woodrow from Don Benito who competed for the first time in U16 black belt 1st Degree pattern. This was a strong division and Alex was drawn against the eventual champion in the quarter-final. Alex put in a very good performance considering the short amount of time he has had to prepare for this event following his promotion to first-degree black belt this year. This is just the start of his journey in international competition and we can say that he proudly represented his club and federation in Ireland. Congratulations Alex!
En un frío fin de semana de diciembre, en Cork, Irlanda los representantes de AETO viajaron como parte de una delegación española para un campeonato muy concurrido organizado por la ITF Irlanda. Este fue un evento importante en el calendario de la ITF con el Campeonato de Europa que se acerca en Cardiff en 2024.
Entre los competidores se encontraba Alex Woodrow de Don Benito, quien compitió por primera vez en el patrón de cinturón negro de I Dan – Categoría Sub 16 años. Esta era una división fuerte y Alex se enfrentó al eventual campeón en los cuartos de final. Alex tuvo una muy buena actuación considerando el poco tiempo que tuvo para prepararse para este evento luego de su ascenso a cinturón negro de primer dan este año. Este es solo el comienzo de su trayectoria en la competición internacional y podemos decir que representó con orgullo a su club y federación en Irlanda. ¡Felicidades Álex!
The Spanish delegation also included AETO senior instructor Richard Woodrow as official umpire and referee and Master Fernando Pérez as head of the delegation and umpires.
La delegación española también incluyó el Instructor Mayor Richard Woodrow ofició de Árbitro y el Master Fernando Pérez fue el jefe de delegación y Árbitro.
